Jump Start Escape From Adventure Island: A Review

I’ve mentioned before how much my kids love anything and everything Jump Start.

I’ve also mentioned before how much I can appreciate games that are both fun and educational. Well, I now have another great game to add to the different tools my kids use to learn and have fun: Jump Start Escape From Adventure Island!

Jump Start gave me a pre-release copy of the game to enjoy with the kids. This new game allows players the opportunity to practice 150+ math, reading, and critical thinking skills through 3D adventures on both land and water! They must explore the island, discover a way to escape, and repair their blimp to escape the mysterious island.
The game is meant for ages 5-9 and has been given a rating of E for everyone. It retails for $29.99 and will be available November 16, 2009.
My five year old loved any and all parts of the game that allowed her to practice reading. She’s been working with sight words at school as she learns to read and she loved being able to identify different words throughout the game. Quite a few of the math skills are a little above her level, but I appreciate her being exposed at such a young age. My four year old struggled a bit with the Wii remote, but loved the different underwater adventures. He honestly got the most enjoyment out of helping his sister navigate when she was playing.
While both of the Jump Start Wii games have been a hit around our house, I’m still most impressed with the website and its games. I love the different levels, skills, and ease of use that the kids have when they play. I appreciate the fact that the Wii games and the website can be played without much supervision. I know the content is safe, educational, and age appropriate.
